Chiyo Kobayashi, our co-CEO, participated in a panel discussion for the Washington Japanese Language School’s 65th Anniversary event, sharing the stage with Mr. Ryota Yoshimura, Managing Director & General Manager, Intelligence & Government Affairs Dept. of Sumitomo Corporation of Americas and Mr. Tetsuo Iguchi, Senior Vice President of Government & Industry Relations and General Manager of the Washington DC office of Toshiba America, Inc.

Each panelist discussed the important role that heritage schools play in raising children with a global mindset. Located in Bethesda, the Washington Japanese Language School has classes all day every Saturday for its more than 500 students ranging from kindergarten to high school (K-12). Some students come from as far away as Baltimore, MD, Harrisburg, PA, and Charlottesville, VA to attend the school to study Japanese academic curriculum and culture.
