Virtually Advancing U.S. – Japan Dialogue on Cancer and Infectious Disease Research

The Embassy of Japan in the United States of America and the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) Washington DC Office hosted a conference to discuss advances in oncology on June 25, 2021. This conference was organized by a steering committee composed of Japanese medical researchers at NIH, FDA and US academic institutions.

The conference brought together leading researchers in Japan and the United States to highlight recent advances in cross-cutting research areas for cancer and infectious diseases and explore opportunities to work together on common challenges in research and treatment.

More than 100 attendees from government, academia, research institutes, and the media attended the conference, held virtually in order to maximize international participation. The speakers included high-ranking diplomats and distinguished leaders from global research institutes such as the National Institutes of Health (USA), Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (USA), and National Center for Global Health and Medicine Research Institute (Japan).

Washington CORE provided planning, promotional and technical support for this important event which was a true embodiment of international medical research collaboration.
